Doug has 30 years of experience teaching all levels from complete beginner to professional tour. After playing college tennis in California, he worked at indoor clubs in Pittsburgh, PA and Seattle, WA, and then returned to Ottumwa to teach. He tries to get all students to learn the complete game, so there is quite a heavy emphasis on net play and mastering the slice backhand as well. As players age, they will tend to play more doubles, and excellent net skills are an essential component of doubles play. Doug believes the semi-western forehand and two-handed backhand are the foundation of the modern game and teaches a very mechanically sound system of executing ground strokes. He is available for private and group instruction.

My name is Jami Brechon & I own Work It Out Fitness Studio. As a wife & mom to 3 great kids, I know how busy life is & how difficult it can be to “fit” fitness into your life. But, as an RN, I know how very important it is to exercise & eat healthy. Before I became a Personal Trainer, I worked for many years as a Pediatric & Adult Oncology Nurse. Illness can strike at any time & having a healthy & fit body can be the difference in your fight & survival. Most illnesses can be virtually eliminated when you eat healthy & stay active, especially when you start young. When I started the studio, it was with the intentions of trying to help as many people get & stay healthy as I can. I especially love to work with children of all ages & hope to start a FREE kids’ fitness program that will help fight childhood obesity in our area. At Work it Out, we strive to create fun, challenging, & effective workouts that get results! I am very excited to bring some of our awesome classes to the club.
