2011 Men’s Member-Guest

Saturday August 14th was the Member-Guest. A great time was had by all who participated. Flights of four teams were created by combined handicap index. Teams played a 9-hole better ball match (3 total matches) against each team in their flight. Each hole played was worth (2) points. (2) points awarded for a win, (1) point awarded for a tie, and (0) points for a loss. Winning the match (earning more points) also earns you (2) points. Tying the match earns you (1) point. Loosing the match earns you (0) points. Each match has (20) points available.
Each of the flight winners (highest point earning team) advanced to a shootout along with the (2) teams that earned the most points, but did not win their flight.
(6) teams played a handicapped alternate shot (one player teed of on odd holes and the other on even holes). The shootout was contested on Holes 10, 7, 8, & 9. (2) teams were eliminated on #10 and (1) team on the last (3) holes. Ties for elimination were decided by a chip-off conducted immediately after the hole. Mick Lawson & Grant Oswalt were the last men standing on #9 green.

“Margarita Madness” was the theme of our first Couples 9 & Dine of the season. We had 15 couples participate in the Alternate Shot “Kick, Throw and Toss” Event. Everyone had a great time and we are looking forward to our next one which will be a Hawaiian Theme.
Congratulations to the 2011 Ottumwa Amateur Champion, Jack Weeber. He shot a 211 to take the championship by 2strokes over Jeff Collett and Mike Oimeoen. Ottumwa Country Club’s own Gary Engle won the Senior Championship by 8 strokes, carding a total of 150. Congratulations to all the Flight Winners.
