Ottumwa Country Club is known for its tree lined fairways and fast greens making it enjoyable for golfers of all abilities. The par 72 golf course features 4 sets of tees with the championship tees measuring 6363 yards. The front nine was built in the early 1900s and was designed by famed golf architect, Ted Bendalow. In 1960 the back nine was added and offers a variety of elevations changes, numerous water hazards and larger greens. Ottumwa Country Club’s commitment to the environment is strong which is illustrated through the natural habitats that are nestled throughout the golf course terrain. Ottumwa Country Club currently belongs to the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program. Along with a championship golf course the facility includes a large putting green, a dual sided driving range and short game area.
Ottumwa Country Club as long been one of the premier golf courses in the state and has hosted many state championship tournaments including the Iowa Men’s and Women’s Amateurs, Senior Women’s Amateur, Jr. Opens, Girls and Boys State Championships, The Prairie Tour and The Iowa Open. Ottumwa Country Club was awarded Iowa 18 Hole Golf Course of the Year by the Iowa Golf Association in 1996. Like Frank Clark, the visionary who created this historic club 102 years ago, the current Board of Directors also have their eye on future improvements to carry on the fine tradition of golf at Ottumwa Country Club through the 21st century.
