One of the school class tours given on our golf course. This happened to be Mrs. Klodt's 5th grade who posed for a picture after a long hike to the back nine a few years ago. The classes that have been given a tour of our environmental outdoor lab always get a slide show, cookies, and soda pop before the end of the day. The kids on this day saw White Tailed Deer, an Eastern Striped Chipmunk, Blue Jays, and a Northern Water Snake. They were also treated to the hissing of a dragon by turning on the irrigation system on a green that is close by. The dragon like huffing noise is caused by air trapped in the waterlines of a newly charged irrigation system that has not been used in the spring. When water is released from the control box to the irrigation sprinkler heads, the air that is trapped in the water pipeline gives off an eery loud surpertine sound as it discharges.
